‘A Thursday’ trailer teases a fascinating drama with strong thriller elements. In the film, the actor appears to be playing an anti-hero. For now, it appears that Yami’s character, Naina, has a dark side to her, with secrets buried deep within her psyche that threaten to destroy the country. In the trailer, we witness Naina, a kindergarten teacher, kidnap 16 children from her school. She then makes a threatening phone call to the police department, claiming she wants to meet with the Prime Minister played by Dimple Kapadia. If the police and the Prime Minister do not comply with Naina’s demands, she warns she will shoot her students in ‘alphabetical order.’
The film is directed by Behzad Khamabata, who was an assistant director in popular films such as Oh My God!, Azhar, and Boss. The trailer does not reveal too much about the plot of the film which intrigued the audience. This movie is also said to be a spiritual sequel to cult classic Naseeruddin Shah starring A Wednesday. But there is no official confirmation from the producers of the film.
When asked about the trailer, Yami Gautam said, “I have never ever played such a distinct character like Naina. She projects so many diverse emotions. I have really put in a lot of effort to portray her in different shades. She is a teacher, who always looks after the children and she has taken them hostage, transforming her from a protector to a threat. That situation itself is so tense with multiple layers to it. A Thursday is an absolute roller coaster ride and I totally loved being a part of it!”
The makers had previously released a teaser of the film, in which we saw a tense-looking Yami singing a familiar nursery rhyme while children echoed the lines after her.
‘A Thursday’ will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on February 17th, directed by Behzad Khambata and produced by Ronnie Screwvala.
