In recent cabinet reshuffle, former BJP’s Asansol MP, Babul Supriyo was dropped as Union Minister after which he said he was quitting politics in his post on social media. In his post (written mostly in Bengali) on facebook he wrote, “I’m leaving…farewell. Heard everyone’s word- father, mother, wife, daughter, two dear friends…After hearing everything, I say that I am not going to any other party- #TMC, #Congress, #CPIM, nowhere…I am one Team Player! Have always supported one team. #MohunBagan…Have backed only BJP in West Bengal…That’s it…I am going.” Adding to this, he wrote, “if you want to do social work, you can do it without being in politics…let’s organize myself a little first and then…”
Sharing along the with the post the YouTube link of a song by late playback singer, Hemanta Mukherjee, he also shared about his decision of quitting as MP. After loosing West Bengal Assembly election by 50,000 votes from Tollygunj constituency in Kolkata, earlier this month he was dropped as Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest, and Climate change. With his clarification on not ‘bargaining’ for a position, he thanked BJP leader, Amit Shah and JP Nadda for “their love.”
