The Multiverse of Madness is the second film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to explore the topic of the multiverse, which is a real-world theory that our universe is simply one of many realities that make up the multiverse.

Although the multiverse in Spider-Man: No Way Home was a thrilling storyline twist that allowed Tom Holland‘s Spiderman to meet other Spider-Mans from alternate realities and set up a showdown with the bad guys. The plot is more complex in this film.

The trailer shows the real impact of the spell that Doctor Strange attempted in ‘Spiderman: No way home’. He is under attack from all sides including his own selves from other realities.

The Multiverse is in danger as a result of Strange’s experiments with space-time. So, in order to prevent the entire reality from crumbling, the good Doctor is forced to contact Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), who after the events of WandaVision adopts the persona of Scarlet Witch. Strange will also have a new ally in the form of Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez, a multi-dimensional heroine. And, judging from the trailer, he might cross paths with a few unexpectedly recognizable faces.

Sam Raimi, the filmmaker behind the Evil Dead franchise and Tobey Maguire‘s Spider-Man movie, is directing Multiverse of Madness. Michael Waldron, the head writer at Loki, wrote the story. It will be released in the theatres on May 6 in English, Hindi, Tamil & Telugu.
