Hong Kong’s Ngan Yi Cheung got defeated by India’s PV Sindhu in second Group J match in women’s single on July 28th. Making first set to last only for 15 minutes, Sindhu with great ease finished it on the score of 21-9. Finishing off the second set at 21-6, Sindhu entered into the pre quarter finals.
With a win in Badminton, India lost in Archery. Indian army archer, Tarundeep Rai lost against Itay Shanny of Israel by 6-5 in round of 32 match. After his win in first round against Oleksii Hunbin of Ukraine and defeat in the second, Rai got knocked out of the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Indian women Hockey team faced its third consecutive defeat against Great Britain on 4-1 goals. Indian women will now face Ireland and South Africa on July 30th and 31st respectively and they need to win against both the teams to stay back in Tokyo Oylmpics. India lost its first two matches against Germany standing on score of 0-2, and in its opening match against Netherlands.
