Jaipur. Almost 3 weeks into the 15th season of IPL and the 5 times champion Mumbai Indians are still looking for their first win in the ongoing season. Led by the skipper Rohit Sharma, Mumbai lost their 5th consecutive match this season, this time to Punjab Kings.

Mumbai won the toss and asked Punjab to bat first. Shikhar Dhawan and skipper Mayank Agarwal gave a great start to Punjab by scoring 97 runs for the 1st wicket. Mayank scored 52 off 32 deliveries conceding 6 fours and 2 sixes, wheareas Dhawan was the top scorer with his 70 off 50 balls including 5 fours and 3 sixes. Jitesh Sharma played a role of finisher for Punjab by scoring quickfire 30 off 15 deliveries. Basil Thampi took 2 wickets for Mumbai. Jaydev Unadkat, Jasprit Bumrah and Murugan Ashwin shared 1 wicket each. Punjab finished on 198 for 5 in their 20 overs.

Chasing 199, Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma gave a quick start by scoring 28 off 17 balls, but couldn,t convert it into a big total. Mumbai lost both their openers at the score of 32. After that Dewald Brewis and Tilak Varma took the charge and made a partnership of 84 runs for the third wicket. Brewis was the top scorer for Mumbai with 49 off 25 balls including 4 boundaries and 5 sixes. Suryakumar Yadav played his part well by scoring 43 off 30 deliveries and took Mumbai closer to the winning total. But after Surya,s wicket, it was Punjab,s game. Odean Smith took 3 wickets in the final over and Mumbai Indians were restricted to 186 for 9 losing the match by 12 runs. Odean was the leading wicket taker for Punjab Kings with 4 wickets. Kagiso Rabada took 2 wickets and Vaibhav Arora got 1 breakthrough.
