After defeating China’s Nien-Chin Chen in semifinals on July 30th, Indian boxer, Lovlina Borgohain from Assam assured a medal for India in the Tokyo Olympic Games. This would be the first medal for India in Boxing in the Tokyo Olympics. The 23-year old fought (69 kg) against world champion Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey hammering her with score of 4-1.

Borgohain is herself a two-time bronze-medalist at world championship who gave her game an aggressive start followed by stupendous counter-attacks against Chen.
