The studies by ICMR suggested on Sunday that mixing and matching India based vaccines for Covid, Covaxin and Covishield showed good results to fight against the new Covid variant, Delta (SARs-CoV-2). A combination of an adenovirus vector platform-based vaccine and inactivated whole virus vaccine used to immunize is not only safe but reacts for better immunogenicity.
The studies showed Covaxin is effective against Delta Plus, and individuals recovered from Covid-19 immunized with both doses of Covishield have higher immunity. The rising cases are at peak all around the world with individuals suffering from Covid variant, Delta. However, experts have suggested that Delta alone cannot be the reason for the third wave of pandemic in India.
