Tokyo Paralympics 2021: A big good news is coming out of the Tokyo Paralympics. Sumit Antil has won the gold medal in the F64 category of Javelin Throw. This is India’s second gold medal in this Tokyo Paralympics. Sumit Antil has achieved this feat by breaking his own world record thrice. In his second throw, he set a new world record with a throw of 68.55 metres.
Sumit Antil was seen in form from the beginning. Sumit achieved a target of 66.95 meters in the first throw. After this he threw 68.08 meters. Then in the third attempt 65.27, in the fourth attempt 66.71 and in the fifth attempt Sumit threw 68.55 meters. While Sumit managed to take gold by staying at number one, Michael Barian of Australia won the silver medal with a throw of 66.29 meters.
Sumit Antil used to aspire to become a wrestler:-
Sumit, who aspired to become a wrestler, started playing javelin throw at the behest of Dronacharya awardee coach Naval Singh. For the first time in the year 2018, he participated in the Asian Championship for this sport. But there he could not do much and ended his journey in the fifth place in the rankings. But the very next year in the year 2019 in the World Championship held in Dubai, he proved his talent.
Have won silver in the world championship:-
In the 2019 World Championship, Sumit had achieved the feat of winning the silver medal. Due to which he qualified for the Tokyo Paralympics. Now by winning the gold medal in the Tokyo Paralympics, he has illuminated the name of the whole country. Earlier in Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj Chopra has created history by winning the gold medal in Javelin throw.
