On Thursday, August 12, the Personnel Ministry gave one-year extension to Union Home Secretary, Ajay Bhalla. Bhalla was to retire as Union Home Secretary on August 22 after his two service since August 22, 2019. Ajay Bhalla is a former IAS officer from batch of 1984 from Assam-Meghalaya cadre who also saw to Ram Mandir Trust and Covid-19 management.
Bhalla, the Union Home Secretary succeeded Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba. He surveyed the passages of key and controversial legislations of the Narendra Modi government in the Parliament like CAA and reversing the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
